What is EXTRA ENTERTAINMENT?
Extra entertainment is the added something that can really make your wedding or party something special. It’s that something that will really set your event apart from all others. Ever been to a wedding reception where the bride and groom are off taking pictures for 45 minutes to an hour and you’re left in a banquet room where there’s only cocktails and some appetizers with DJ music? What if that bride and groom had a caricature artist for that hour drawing pictures of the guests. What a great takeaway gift/favor. What if that wedding couple had a magician during cocktail hour doing up close magic! Imagine that there are a lot of children at the event how about a balloon twister to keep the children occupied. That’s fun. A jazz guitarist in the corner would be add an element of sophistication.
If its a Vegas event you are planning how about inviting some of the biggest legends in show biz to your party? Imagine Frank Sinatra and a Las Vegas Showgirl greeting your guests when the doors open to the ballroom then later peforming. Maybe it’s the King himself Elvis! Or how about Tom Jones! These are alll memorable takeaway moments that your guests will love and appreciate. And the investment is PRICELESS!
Let our event producers at Sight & Sound Events suggest and create some memorable and fun EXTRA ENTERTAINMENT options for your next event! You’ll love it and so will your guests!

The most commonly asked question our wedding and special event producers receive is, “What do you suggest for background music?“ In some circumstances when we get to that part of the design session our clients didn’t even think about that.
Background music which is played when the ballroom doors open (prior to grand entrances) AND at dinner shouldn’t be CRAZY yet. When guests walk into a ballroom they want to get comfortable with their element which means finding a place to sit and drinking that cool cocktail. So the background music shouldn’t be sleepy (Yani pops into my mind right way) it should be ‘COOL’ and CLASSY. “VINTAGE VEGAS“. “Vintage Vegas” is what we at Sight & Sound Events call that ‘Rat Pack’ Vegas sound. Selections from artists like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr. Bobby Darin, Tom Jones, Wayne Newton and lite Elvis. Mix that sound in with some Michael Buble, Diana Krall and some smooth jazz selections (Eric Darius, Peter White and Boney James are just some awesome hip Jazz artists) and you’ll have an awesome party soundtrack for background music.
We invite your thoughts and to share some background musical selections with us!
Saturday night Sight & Sound Events entertained a corporate function. What inspired me today to write this blog was that when it came time to open the doors for guests to arrive, the event planner said “CRANK IT”. Imagine a corporate first hour which consists of mingling and getting drinks and she said “crank it”? Our DJ went into the standard Vintage Vegas selections and everyone loved it at a sound level where all could carry on a conversation. When it was time for dinner our DJ selected a mixture of some smooth jazz (Dave Koz, Peter White, Eric Daris mixed with some hip Lounge music (Thievery Corporation) type of stuff. Again, the DJ kept the sound at conversation level, but the event planner who stood right in front of the system felt it was too loud. She never once spot checked the back of the room to make sure that the folks in the back were able to hear the music.
So things to consider with the level of the music are:
1. Always keep the cocktail and dinner hour music at conversational level. Everyone should be able to hear the music no matter where they sit. Your entertainer should do a spot check of the room to make sure that music can be heard at a decent level.
2. Sit the senior citizens in the back of the room. No matter how low the music level is THEY ALWAYS COMPLAIN. The area closest to the entertainment will always be the loudest for them.
3. The party should really kick in when you get to the OPEN DANCE segment of the party. That is when the music will get above conversation level. Again make sure you do a spot check of the room so that all can hear.
You will find that if the music is too loud a lot of your guests will leave for the evening. The level of sound can make or break your event too. What are your thoughts? Share them with our guests.
